CENTROID CNC CONTROL OPTION - Compression Tapping Centroid CNC controls are very usable with their standard software package. However, we do offer higher level software features developed for the advanced CNC machinist and programmer. These optional software features are available for use on all Centroid M series controls. Below, we offer examples of common ways that this option is used to shorten the overall part to part cycle time. Whether you machine one part at a time or thousands Centroid has developed many add on features to help speed the process. This option provides you with a single G-code to run a Tapping routine. Compression tapping differs from rigid tapping. With compression tapping your Z axis position is calculated from the information you in your program. It will be close but not precise. To make up for this slight variation you will need to use a compression tapping holder. A compression tapping holder is rigid in rotation but has some travel in the Z axis to alow for a slight miss match in rotation Vs. feed rate. Read about Rigid Tapping here. How can I use this on my machine? The need for and use of this feature is more obvious than some other options. You will program an G74 for left hand tapping and G84 for right hand tapping. The cycle will automatically begin the proper rotation and feed, stop rotation and feed at the programmed depth, then reverse the rotation and feed to back the tap out. You are purchasing Compression Tapping System Unlock: This option will provide you with G74 and G84 programming on your Centroid M series cnc control. Use of this tapping cycle requires a compression tap holder. Each Centroid software option is fully documented in your programming manual. This feature requires software version ____ and higher to function. Once purchased, this option will remain available on your control even if you replace the hard drive, Upgrade the computer or change your software version. Available, by phone and Email.
