Liquid Cooled Electromagnet 800# Magnecoil Corp. 55250. According to the label, this dual coil electromagnet assembly weighs 800 pounds according to the label. It looks like the coils each weigh about 100 pounds. One coil measured 4.55 ohms and 3.48 mh with a Q of .577 at 120 hertz The other was slightly lower. We measured 8500 gauss at 50 amps and 23.5 volts with the coils in series. DC resistance measured 0.25 ohms. Looking at the wire lugs we think this could handle at least 100 amps, probably more (one would have to see what the heat load and localized heating came to.) We did not observe much change in magnetic field within the gap when moving the sensor around. Over all dimensions are about 20 by 20 inches. Note the cooling liquid ports and wire lugs in the image above. The pole faces are about 4 inches by 4 inches. The pole gap is about 1.5 inches. The steel is about 8 inches wide and 4 inches thick. The labels on the coils (below) are too scuffed to read much more than the 100 pounds weight. Additional similar items maybe listed separately or available on request.
