HIGH SIDE Gate driver for power MOSFETs Drives MOSFETS sitting at up to 600V above its ground pin. A long awaited "magic bullet" for driving HV high side devices. Specialized hi-side driver, can also drive low-side MOSFETS. Does one thing, and does it very well: Turn MOSFETS hard ON, to attain their lowest specified Rds(on). (good luck attaining it otherwise). Turns them ON FAST, and turns them OFF FAST. It will both source and sink current from MOSFET gates to provide fast switching. Supply of 10V to 20V, 250mA /500mA continuous source / sink output current into capacitive loads. Accepts logic level input (low current, 3 to 18V high state), and it switches high powers on output. Designed to reduce both conduction losses (by fully enhancing the channel), and switching losses (by reducing rise/fall times to their specified minimum) in all MOSFETS. In the above diagram, when the top MOSFET is turned ON, its source is at about 598V, so it's gate must be at about 598 + 12 V to keep it turned on. It is no small feat for an IC to do this, but the FAN7361 does it with ease. If you're driving MOSFETS any other way, you end up struggling with rise times and incomplete turn-on, and you're not achieving rated MOSFET performance.
